Events The Michigan City Exchange Club, in association with the Disabled American Veterans, is sponsoring a food drive for the Salvation Army Food Pantry ! Michigan City, IN (August 6, 2010) – Michigan City residents of all ages are encouraged to participate in this event to help restock the shelves of Michigan City’s Salvation Army Food Pantry. Citizens who wish to help, may drop off non perishable food items at the DAV located at 2301 Ohio Street, anytime after noon, Monday through Saturday. Simply knock at the door and a DAV member will let you in to drop off your food items. Diane Swain, of the Salvation Army, says there is an immediate need of spaghetti sauces and noodles, canned tuna fish, macaroni & cheese, breakfast cereals and canned vegetables, fruits and soups. This Food Drive will be in effect through September. September 3-6 Labor Dayz Festival in Washington Park Enjoy a variety of food, arts & crafts and live entertainment. September 5-6 Tri State Race stops in Michigan City Sailboat racers arrive in Michigan City and tie-up along the municipal dock adjacent to the Michigan City Coast Guard Station. Racers will depart Michigan City on Sunday. Arrival and departure times are weather dependent. For more information, contact Herb Philbrick at (219) 362-1407. September 12 18th Annual Tower Run The course takes participants through the scenic areas of the Michigan City beach communities and Washington Park.
