Patriotic Program 8:00 amPatriotic ProgramThe annual Patriotic Program takes place again this year at Millennium Plaza, on the west side of the entrance to Washington Park, at the Franklin Street bridge.
Beginning at 8 a.m. on Sunday, July 4, members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2536, American Legion John Franklin Miller Post 37, American Legion Skwiat Post 451, and the Disabled American Veterans Post 23 will participate posting colors, and the VFW Post honor guard will fire a 21-gun salute, according to event chairman Justine Venice. Lakeview Fundays includes arts & crafts vendors, food & refreshments, entertainment, amusements by Sterling Crown & Vertical Edge, and a fabulous fireworks display.
Entertainment includes: Saturday, July 10th, Mistress (a local band playing classic rock music) at 6:00pm. On Sunday, welcome back a blast from the past, CROWHAVEN playing from 2-5pm, then the rockin sounds of SPELLBOUND from 6-9pm. Then finish up your day with FIREWORKS (starting at dusk). Fly-In Pancake Breakfast 7:00 amFly-In Pancake BreakfastThe Michigan City Aviators Chapter 966 of the Experimental Aircraft Association in conjunction with the Michigan City Summer Festival and the Michigan City Municipal Airport announce its annual fly-in pancake breakfast at the Michigan City Airport. The Michigan City Airport is located on Highway 212 East of Michigan City. The breakfast will begin at 7:00am until Noon on Sunday, July 11. The Michigan City Summer Festival fireworks will be at dusk Sunday, July 11, capping several days of activities in Washington Park. Fireworks will be launched from the lighthouse pier over Lake Michigan. The show is expected to last 45 minutes. Shake, Rattle & Roll Car Cruise 10:00 amShake, Rattle & Roll Car CruiseThe annual Shake, Rattle & Roll Car Cruise will travel Michigan Blvd to Washington Park on Saturday, July 17, where it will be followed by the Street Dance.
Lineup begins at 10am at Sullar, 3700 E Michigan Blvd, and the cruise begins at 4pm. The bandPoint ‘n Fingers will perform at the street dance from 6-10pm in Washington Park.

Soul Steppers Show Up Competition 4:00 pmSoul Steppers Show Up CompetitionThe Soul Steppers Drill Team Inc. in conjunction with the Michigan City Summer Festival will be hosting a Drill Team/Drumline competition on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at the Michigan City High School. The theme is "Show Up & Show Out", and this will be thelargest competition of its kind to be held in the state of Indiana! There will be between 10-15 drill teams accompanied by drumlines competing for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies and cash awards, with a special performance by Michigan City's own award winning Soul Steppers Drill Team. The teams will be traveling from as far away as Tennessee, Minnesota, Nebraska, Missouri, Iowa, Kansas, and Illinois with each bringing between 25-70 members. This is sure to be another summer explosive event filled with fun entertainment for everyone!! Tickets are $10.00. Children 5 and under free.
